The Quality Management System Advantage
Dear [[^^name^^||Current Subscriber]],
Several years ago, CrossWind Machining chose to certify for ISO9001 and AS9100. Since AS9100 and ISO13485 are very similar, we chose to go with AS9100 hoping to make ourselves more visible to the Aerospace community. CrossWind was already well known within the Medical Device arena for our quality and ability to produce high tolerance, high precision small components.
Though ISO certification does not DEFINE the quality of our products, it helps us to achieve consistent results and to continually improve the processes by which our products are manufactured. We do this by creating and maintaining a Job Router/Traveler for each lot that we produce. By following a specific set of instructions each time, this practice allows us to track each step of the process and document the results. The Traveler provides accurate traceability and requires that each step be initialed and dated as it is completed. From the selection of the raw material to the Final Inspection we know what process was performed, who completed each step and we maintain our lot records for at least 7 years. Now that's a lot of paper!!
Our measuring devices are calibrated, tracked and marked with a dated sticker that is maintained on a calibration recall schedule. Our calibration vendor is ISO9001 Certified and uses standards traceable to the National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST). ![img0118rev1[1].jpg img0118rev1[1].jpg](/files/img0118rev1[1].jpg)
When we begin a job, the lot number will only change under only specific examples such as: the raw material lot changes,the customer requires a partial order thereby requireing a separate material processing lot(such as passivate or anodize) or anything else that could change the results of the final product. This allows us to trace and 'drill down' to root cause should there ever be an issue.
We are dedicated to bringing Your Vision to Reality.
